Maccabi Haifa Suspends Defender Pedro After Injury, Opens Foreign Player Slot
Maccabi Haifa has decided to suspend defender Pedro following a recent injury expected to sideline him for at least a month. Instead of loaning or releasing him, the club will remove Pedro from the squad for at least the upcoming half-season, freeing up a foreign player slot. Pedro, 29, joined Maccabi Haifa in summer 2024 for a transfer fee of 1.3 million euros from Portuguese club Portimonense. He made only 17 appearances across all competitions before suffering a meniscus tear. This injury follows a previous one that caused him to miss the entire last season, and he has struggled to regain full fitness since.
