Dominican Guard Montrezl Rejects Lucrative Offers to Join Olympiacos

Dominican point guard Yann Montrezl, a standout player in last season's EuroLeague, recently revealed details about his summer transfer decisions in an interview on a Spanish podcast. Montrezl, who led Valencia to the EuroLeague Final Four and secured the club's second Spanish league title, was highly sought after by multiple teams this offseason. Despite receiving numerous lucrative offers, including one reportedly worth $10 million for a single season with housing included, Montrezl chose to sign with Olympiacos, the reigning European champions.

Montrezl explained that Olympiacos actually offered him the least financially, but he found their proposal the most logical. He emphasized that his decision was influenced by factors beyond money, such as the coach, the team's environment, the club's reputation, and how players are treated. He explicitly stated, "It wasn't about the money."

Although the exact team that made the $10 million offer was not disclosed, previous reports from Greece suggested that Hapoel Tel Aviv was among the interested clubs. Montrezl's choice highlights a preference for stability and fit over financial gain as he embarks on his new chapter with Olympiacos.
