Real Madrid Negotiates With Maccabi Tel Aviv Guard Loni Walker

Real Madrid, the EuroLeague runner-up, is in negotiations with guard Loni Walker from Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to Spanish journalist Chema de Lucas. The current situation between Walker and Maccabi Tel Aviv remains unchanged. On July 15, Walker's NBA exit clause expired, but he and his representatives requested and received an extension from Maccabi. Recently, Walker and his agent held talks with several NBA teams during the Summer League in Las Vegas, but no concrete offers or clear directions emerged from the NBA.

Spanish media have suggested that Walker could be a valuable addition to Real Madrid. Eurohoops journalist Javier Molero commented, "Real Madrid needs a player like Loni Walker. His style and attributes are the missing piece for this team. He has had significant moments in the NBA and is almost perfect for them."

Walker, 27, from Reading, Pennsylvania, has NBA experience with San Antonio, the Lakers, and Brooklyn. In the 2024/25 season, he played for Žalgiris before moving to the Philadelphia 76ers. He joined Maccabi Tel Aviv last summer and averaged 14.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in the EuroLeague last season.
