Real Madrid Negotiates With Maccabi Tel Aviv Guard Loni Walker

Real Madrid, the EuroLeague runner-up, is reportedly in negotiations with guard Loni Walker from Maccabi Tel Aviv. According to Spanish journalist Chema de Lucas, talks have advanced as the Spanish club seeks to strengthen its roster. Currently, the situation between Walker and Maccabi Tel Aviv remains unchanged.

Walker’s NBA exit clause expired on July 15, but he and his representatives requested and received an extension from Maccabi Tel Aviv. Recently, Walker and his agent held discussions with several NBA teams during the Summer League in Las Vegas, but no concrete offers or clear directions emerged from the league’s top teams.

Spanish media have suggested Walker could be a valuable addition to Real Madrid. Eurohoops journalist Javier Molero described Walker as "the missing piece" for the team, praising his style and NBA experience. The 27-year-old, born in Reading, Pennsylvania, has NBA experience with San Antonio, the Lakers, and Brooklyn. In the 2024/25 season, he played for Žalgiris before moving to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Walker joined Maccabi Tel Aviv last summer and averaged 14.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in the EuroLeague last season. The ongoing negotiations highlight Real Madrid’s intent to bolster its squad ahead of the new season.
