Intruder Claims Ownership After Breaking Into Woman's Bedroom in Kiryat Ata

On July 12, a 37-year-old man named Tal Ben Hamo from Kiryat Motzkin broke into a home in Kiryat Ata while the homeowner and her young daughter were inside. According to the indictment filed by the Zevulun District Prosecution at the Krayot Magistrate's Court, Ben Hamo entered the property by opening the yard gate, then searched a storage room where he took a bag. He proceeded to enter the unlocked main door, went upstairs, and entered the couple's bedroom where he stole a mobile phone and a piggy bank containing coins.

The homeowner awoke to noises and found the intruder standing in her bedroom holding family property. When she demanded to know what he was doing, he claimed that someone else had rented the house to him and even gave him a key. As she shouted to scare him off and protect her daughter, he responded, "Who are you? This is my house." The woman chased him as he descended the stairs, but he fled with the stolen items despite her attempts to block him and inspect the bag.

The prosecution accuses Ben Hamo of residential burglary, theft, and criminal trespass. The incident was uncovered only because of the noise he made while searching for valuables, which alerted the homeowner. The case highlights the dangers of home invasions and the intruder's false claim of legal access to the property.
