US Deploys Advanced Electronic Warfare Aircraft to Middle East Amid Rising Tensions with Iran

The US Air Force has redeployed its advanced EA-37B Compass Call electronic warfare aircraft to the Middle East, arriving first at RAF Mildenhall in the UK before continuing to the region. This aircraft, known for disrupting enemy radar, detection systems, and command and control networks, was last stationed in the area during Operation "Roar of the Lion" in April. Its return coincides with a significant buildup of US military forces and ongoing strikes against Iran, signaling preparations for a potential escalation in military conflict.

Alongside the EA-37B, the US has intensified its presence by deploying B-1B bombers from Fairford, UK, numerous KC-135 and KC-46 refueling tankers, C-17 transport planes, E-11A BACN command aircraft, F-16 fighters, A-10 attack jets, and additional EA-37B units. The US has also repositioned forces from more vulnerable bases such as Al-Udeid in Qatar to safer locations in Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Jordan. Strategic MQ-4C Triton drones have resumed operations from Italy.

This comprehensive military buildup follows twelve consecutive nights of US strikes against Iranian targets, while Tehran has reportedly expanded its attacks on US and allied interests in the region. The combination of electronic warfare, strategic bombers, command and control aircraft, and a large concentration of refueling and transport assets suggests the US is preparing for sustained and complex operations. The timing of the EA-37B's redeployment amid escalating US-Iran tensions underscores expectations of a possible intensification of conflict in the Middle East.
