Drone Spots Hezbollah Gunmen Fleeing Beaufort Tunnel, Then Airstrike Kills Them

During an operation to clear Hezbollah’s tunnel network beneath the Beaufort Ridge, a drone from the Yahalom engineering unit identified militants moving inside one of the underground routes. After they fled, they were found again and killed in an airstrike. The Israeli military said the operation was carried out in southern Lebanon, with field forces, the Commando Brigade combat team, and Yahalom under the 36th Division, guided by Military Intelligence and Northern Command.

According to the IDF, the tunnel infrastructure was designed and financed by Iran’s regime and is a major asset for Hezbollah’s war management. Troops continuing to scan the area say they are working to neutralize the group’s offensive and defensive capabilities in the sector.

In recent days, Egoz unit soldiers searching for shafts and underground routes found additional signs of the network. The drone later spotted militants in one of the passages. When they realized they had been seen, the militants ran away and fired at the drone as they fled.

The IDF said the men were then seen trying to escape the tunnel complex with more operatives, and the Air Force carried out a targeted strike that killed them. The military also released footage from the drone, the airstrike, body-camera video from an operational documentation soldier, and images of weapons and a heavy machine gun found at the site.
