Erez Isakov Buys Maccabi Sharon Netanya and Returns as Player-Owner

Erez Isakov has officially acquired Maccabi Sharon Netanya, a Liga Gimel (fifth-tier) football club, marking his entry as a new owner in Israeli football. The purchase was completed following discussions with the previous owners, brothers Ilan and Shimon Atiya, who will continue managing the club operationally while Isakov assumes ownership.

Isakov, a former player who recently retired, is currently filming a documentary series about his family, which includes footage of the club acquisition process. In a surprising move, Isakov announced he will come out of retirement to play actively for the team in Liga Gimel's Shomron division.

As part of his initial steps as owner, Isakov appointed former player Shlomi Dahan, who has experience with Maccabi Netanya, Borussia Dortmund, and Maccabi Haifa, as the team's head coach for the upcoming season. Isakov will also be involved in the club's professional development and plans to recruit several well-known former players to help the club achieve promotion. One such player Isakov intends to approach is Lior Berkovich, a former Haifa player and Isakov's friend from Goldstar, who retired at 26 two years ago. The effort aims to convince Berkovich to return to the pitch and collaborate with the club.
