Erez Isakov Buys Maccabi HaSharon Netanya, Plans Surprises for Israeli Football

Erez Isakov has acquired Maccabi HaSharon Netanya, a Liga Gimel (fifth-tier) football club, marking his entry as a new owner in Israeli football. The purchase was documented as part of a docu-reality series about his family, which is currently in production. Following the acquisition, Isakov spoke to Sport 5's '5 BaAvir' program on July 23, 2026, expressing excitement about the project and hinting at future surprises.

Isakov explained that the deal was reached at a fair value and teased that the reasons behind choosing Maccabi HaSharon Netanya will be revealed in the series. He confirmed that Shlomi Dahan, the current coach, will remain with the team for now, but hinted at possible changes and new arrivals. Although retired as a player, Isakov said he might play if needed but emphasized his primary role as owner and decision-maker.

Regarding potential signings, Isakov mentioned Lior Berkovich, who impressed him professionally at Golstar, and said Berkovich will be given a chance but will face competition for his position. The club aims to progress through the leagues, targeting promotion to Liga Bet and then Liga Alef, with a goal to reach Liga Alef within two years. Isakov acknowledged the project's realistic scope and noted that they brought in an investor aligned with their vision and production plans.

This move signals a new chapter for Maccabi HaSharon Netanya and reflects Isakov's ambition to develop the club while integrating it into his family's media project.
