IDF Reveals Identities of 12 Gaza Terrorists Linked to Palestinian Football

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) disclosed the identities and photos of 12 terrorists from Gaza involved in the October 7 massacre, revealing their connections to the football world. Among those killed were players, coaches, and even a FIFA international referee, who had been publicly known as innocent sports figures.

One notable individual was Mohammad Sami Mohammad Khattab, a FIFA assistant referee who officiated in the West Asian Championship and other international matches. After his death, the Asian Football Confederation issued condolences, and a French parliament member called for a moment of silence in his honor. However, the IDF confirmed he was a terrorist affiliated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in central Gaza camps.

Other terrorists identified include Ahmad Abu Al-Ata, Mohammad Barkat, Mohammad Emad Ali Al-Kurd, Mahmoud Osama, Tarek Ziad Hussein Al-Hour, Mohammad Nidal Mohammad Al-Hawajri, Mohammad Mansour Abdullah Riyad Abdullah Khattab, Mahmoud Al-Rifi, and Mohammad Al-Hour. The revelation exposes how some individuals involved in terrorism had also been active in Gaza's football leagues, blurring the lines between sports and militant activities.

The IDF's publication aims to clarify the dual roles these individuals played and counters narratives portraying them solely as sportsmen. This disclosure follows the October 7 attacks and ongoing military operations in Gaza targeting terror infrastructure and operatives. Further investigations and military actions are expected as Israel continues its campaign against terror groups in the region.
