Neftçi Baku Officially Signs Freddy Vargas From Maccabi Netanya
Neftçi Baku has officially exercised its purchase option on Venezuelan forward Freddy Vargas from Maccabi Netanya for approximately 900,000 euros. Vargas signed a two-year contract with the Azerbaijani club, including an option for an additional season. The player, who previously joined Netanya from Bnei Reineh, was loaned to Neftçi last season after expressing no desire to return to play in Israel.
Had Neftçi not activated the purchase option, Vargas would have had two more years remaining on his contract with Netanya, obliging the Israeli club to honor the agreement or find another team for him. During his loan spell at Neftçi, Vargas scored five goals and provided eight assists across 32 appearances in all competitions. In his time at Netanya, he recorded four goals and eight assists.
