WhatsApp Rolls Out Major Updates for iPad, Car Systems, PDF Handling, and Music Sharing

WhatsApp has announced a series of new updates aimed at enhancing user experience across computers, tablets, and vehicle multimedia systems. A key feature is the ability to create an independent WhatsApp account directly on the iPad, without needing to link it first to a smartphone or set it as a companion device. This change is significant for users who rely on the iPad as their primary communication or work device.

In addition, WhatsApp is improving its integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Users will now be able to read and reply to messages, make calls, view chat history, and access favorite contacts directly from their car’s display. This builds on a previously tested dedicated CarPlay interface that provided access to chats, calls, and contacts.

For WhatsApp Web and desktop versions, users can now open PDF files sent in chats directly within the platform without downloading them first. Through collaboration with Adobe Acrobat, users can highlight, annotate, and perform basic edits on PDFs without leaving the conversation.

WhatsApp is also expanding the functionality of its Status feature by allowing users to share songs from Spotify and Apple Music. Contacts can see what music is being listened to and access the songs easily, transforming Status into a space for sharing music alongside photos, videos, and text.

These updates will be rolled out gradually, so not all features may be immediately available on every device or account.
