WhatsApp Launches Major Update With iPad Registration and Enhanced CarPlay Features

WhatsApp has unveiled a significant update introducing multiple new features across devices and platforms. A key innovation is the ability to register a WhatsApp account directly on an iPad without needing an initial iPhone connection, allowing the iPad to serve as a primary device. Users can download the app, enter their phone number, and complete registration entirely on the iPad.

The update also includes a redesigned interface for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling users to listen to and reply to messages, make and receive calls, review chat history, and contact favorite contacts directly from the car’s multimedia screen, all while maintaining driver focus.

For Web and Desktop users, WhatsApp now supports opening and editing PDF documents directly within chat windows without downloading them first. This feature is powered by integration with Adobe Acrobat, allowing users to annotate, highlight, and add notes to PDFs within the app.

Music sharing has been enhanced by enabling users to share songs from Apple Music and Spotify directly to their WhatsApp Status. Viewers can tap the shared song in the status to listen immediately, expanding the music capabilities within WhatsApp statuses.

WhatsApp stated that these new features are already available in the official release but will roll out gradually to users. Those who do not see the updates yet are advised to update their app to the latest version and wait for the full rollout.
