WhatsApp Revamps Group Info Screen on iPhone with Tab-Based Interface

WhatsApp is rolling out a redesigned group chat info screen for iPhone users, introducing a tab-based interface to replace the previously cluttered and lengthy lists. The update, first launched on Android last month, divides the group info into three main tabs: Members, Media, and Settings. The Members tab shows the full participant list with clear admin labels, the Media tab consolidates all shared links, documents, and saved messages, and the Settings tab gathers all group management and permission options. This new layout allows users to quickly find specific information without extensive scrolling, especially benefiting large groups with hundreds of participants.

In addition to the tab system, WhatsApp has added two new sections: Preferences and Privacy. Preferences provide quick access to chat theme customization, media visibility in the phone gallery, and group storage management, aiming to reduce clutter on the main screen. The Privacy section centralizes encryption settings and chat lock features, enhancing user control over conversation security. These changes reflect WhatsApp's ongoing focus on improving data protection while making security tools more accessible to average users.

Currently, the updated interface is available to select beta testers via TestFlight, with a gradual rollout planned after stability assessments. The new design is expected to reach all iPhone users in the coming weeks through a standard App Store update.
