WhatsApp Enables iPad as Primary Device in Major Update

WhatsApp has started rolling out a significant update for its iPad app that allows users to register their WhatsApp account directly on the iPad and set it as the primary device. Previously, the iPad functioned only as a linked secondary device connected to an active smartphone account, which limited features such as real-time location sharing, broadcast list management, and caused automatic disconnection if the phone was inactive for 14 consecutive days. With the new update, users can choose to designate the iPad as their main device or continue using the linked device model according to their preference. This change enhances user flexibility and brings the iPad experience closer to that of the iPhone. The linked device mode remains available and unchanged. The update is currently being distributed gradually to users with the latest version from the App Store and is expected to reach all accounts in the coming weeks.
