WhatsApp Adds Dual Accounts Support for iPhone Users
WhatsApp has begun rolling out official support for two separate accounts on one iPhone, ending the need for two devices or workarounds such as WhatsApp Business to keep personal and business chats apart. The update opened to all users worldwide on Sunday and is expected to reach iOS devices over the next few days.
The feature arrives with version 26.22.76. After installing it, users will see their current profile at the bottom of the app and can add another account through Settings using the “Add account” option. WhatsApp says switching between profiles will be quick, and notifications from both accounts will appear at the same time.
Tapping a notification will take the user directly into the relevant account without closing the app or logging in again. For now, each account still needs a unique phone number, so users who want the feature must have a second SIM, another active device to receive the verification code, or an eSIM on the iPhone.
WhatsApp is also testing a future option to open accounts using only an email address, but that feature is still in limited trial and is not available to the public. The iPhone rollout closes a gap with Android, where similar support has existed since 2023, and Meta says the account separation is designed to remain secure and private, with fully separate message and media stores.
