WhatsApp rolls out support for two separate accounts on one iPhone
WhatsApp has begun officially rolling out support for managing two separate accounts on a single iPhone. The feature, which had previously reached only limited users in a gradual release, is now available to everyone and should arrive on iOS devices in the coming days.
The update is meant to help people who previously had to carry two phones or use WhatsApp Business to keep personal and work conversations apart. After installing the update, the user profile will appear at the bottom of the app, and the settings menu will include an “Add Account” option that lets users switch between accounts quickly without logging out or closing the app.
WhatsApp will show notifications from both accounts at the same time, and tapping a notification will open the account it came from. The company says messages, media and data will remain separate for each account. For now, adding a second account still requires a separate phone number, which can be obtained through an extra SIM card, an eSIM or another device used to receive the verification code.
The move brings the iPhone version in line with Android, where similar support has existed since 2023, and strengthens WhatsApp as a single app for managing both personal and business communication.
