Israeli Police Arrest Palestinian Posing as Paramedic While Working Illegally in Holon Restaurant

Israeli police in Holon arrested a 22-year-old Palestinian man from Hebron who was working illegally at a restaurant while disguised as a paramedic wearing a kippah. The man was found to be residing in Israel without a valid permit and was attempting to conceal his identity to avoid suspicion. The arrest occurred during a routine inspection by Holon police officers and a rapid response unit at a restaurant on HaMerkava Street.

The restaurant owner was also detained on suspicion of employing an illegal worker, a serious offense that carries heavy criminal penalties including imprisonment and fines. This case is part of a broader crackdown by Israeli authorities targeting illegal residents and those who employ them, focusing on offenses such as illegal employment, harboring, and transportation.

In recent operations nationwide, Border Police arrested approximately 380 illegal residents and about 50 suspects involved in aiding them. Additionally, a joint police and military operation near Tarkumia recently prevented dozens of illegal entries, detaining six Palestinians and an Israeli driver who assisted them. The police intend to request an extension of the suspects’ detention and the prosecution is expected to file charges against the restaurant owner for illegal employment.
