Israel-Greece $3 Billion Air Defense Deal Nears Final Approval in Greek Parliament

Israeli defense industries are on alert as the Greek parliament prepares to finalize a major $3 billion deal for air defense systems supplied by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. The program, named "Achilles Shield," will establish a multi-layered air defense network in Greece based on Israeli technology. The deal includes the acquisition of Rafael's Iron Dome and Spyder systems, as well as IAI's Barak MX missile system. IAI's Elta division is expected to provide the radar components for the project. Approval of the deal in Greece is also expected to benefit Tomer, the company responsible for producing the engines for the Spyder and Barak MX missiles. Earlier in April, the Greek Ministry of Defense signed a separate $750 million contract with Elbit Systems for precision rockets and PULS launchers, further strengthening the defense ties between the two countries.
