MG4 Urban Electric Compact Launches in Israel at 120,000 Shekels, Undercutting Gasoline Cars
The MG4 Urban, a new compact electric vehicle, has been launched in Israel at a competitive price of 120,000 shekels, making it cheaper than many gasoline-powered supermini cars. Unlike the existing MG4 model, the Urban version features a different platform with front-wheel drive, allowing for larger dimensions and lower costs. It measures 4.395 meters in length, 1.84 meters in width, and has a wheelbase of 2.74 meters, offering a spacious interior and a 568-liter trunk. The car weighs 1,520 kilograms and delivers 160 horsepower with a torque of 25.5 kgm, providing a combined range of 405 kilometers. Charging options include slow charging at 11 kW and fast charging at 150 kW. Performance-wise, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and has a top speed of 160 km/h.
The MG4 Urban comes equipped with a 12.8-inch multimedia screen supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital dashboard, wireless phone charging, rear seat air vents, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, 360-degree cameras, and the ability to power external devices from its battery. It also features an app for scheduling and monitoring charging and remote air conditioning control. The vehicle carries a 7-year or 150,000 km warranty for the car and 8 years or 150,000 km for the battery, with annual maintenance or every 24,000 km. Safety ratings include a five-star score in European crash tests and advanced driver assistance systems such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, blind spot monitoring, and door opening alerts.
In parallel, importer Car East from the Lubinski Group has reduced prices on other MG electric models. The MG4 XRANGE long-range version was cut by 4,000 shekels to 145,000, the MG S5 electric crossover dropped by 10,000 shekels to 139,000, and the larger S6 model also saw a 10,000-shekel reduction to 169,000. These price adjustments follow the shekel’s weakening and the success of the MG S9 plug-in hybrid seven-seater, which has sold over 2,000 units in six months with 4,000 orders, making it a strong competitor against popular seven-seat models from Chery and JAC.
