Swiss Investigation Reveals Hamas Planned Coordinated Terror Attacks Across Europe

A Swiss investigation by Neue Zürcher Zeitung has uncovered that Hamas has been planning for years to expand its terrorist activities into Europe. The plan involved coordinated attacks targeting Israeli, Jewish, and Western institutions across multiple European countries, described as a potential "second October 7" on European soil. The report, based on German security investigations, revealed that Hamas had established a covert operational infrastructure including weapons caches, logistical networks, and sleeper cells in various European nations well before the October 7 attacks.

Authorities in Germany believe the attacks were planned to coincide with the second anniversary of the October 7 assault but were thwarted by arrests and intelligence operations across Europe. Vienna reportedly served as a logistical hub, where a weapons cache containing loaded pistols, magazines, ammunition, and explosives was discovered last year. A 39-year-old British man was arrested in London for alleged links to this cache. In total, 13 pistols, an AK-47 assault rifle, and over 900 rounds of ammunition were smuggled through Denmark, Germany, and Austria.

Raids and arrests took place in Germany, Austria, Denmark, the UK, Greece, and Cyprus, leading to the conviction of four Hamas members in Germany. Contrary to Hamas's previous claims that it operates only within Israel and Palestinian territories, evidence shows its military wing has built a long-term operational capability in Europe. The German federal prosecution has filed indictments against Hamas operatives accused of establishing weapons caches and terror infrastructure across Europe, highlighting a strategic effort to broaden the organization's operational theater beyond the Middle East.
