Israel Sees Increased Risk of Conflict With Iran Amid US Diplomatic Efforts

Israeli security officials have assessed that the likelihood of a military confrontation involving Iran and Israel has risen in recent days. Despite this heightened risk, the preferred option for US President Donald Trump remains reaching an agreement with Iran through ongoing negotiations. Trump has not yet made a final decision on how to proceed with Iran, according to Israeli sources.

The Israeli Defense Forces have recently been placed on high alert following missile launches from Iran toward Jordan, marking the closest such activity to Israel in months. The US had issued a prior warning to Jordan about the launches, which were interpreted as attempts by Iran to test the boundaries of the conflict zone near Israel. Although tensions have escalated, both the US and Iran are reportedly cautious about triggering a regional war and continue to leave room for diplomatic dialogue.

Israeli officials report ongoing close communication with the US, with some expecting an increase in Israeli military actions against Iran. Concurrently, the US is reinforcing its military presence in the Middle East with additional aircraft and refueling tankers. Diplomatic efforts continue, led by Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff, aiming to halt the cycle of escalation and revive negotiations with Iran.
