Lebanese Army Accuses IDF of Firing Near Troops in South Lebanon Pilot Zone

The Lebanese Army reported a rare confrontation with Israel Defense Forces (IDF) units in the village of Zawtar al-Arabiyya in southern Lebanon. This area was recently evacuated by the IDF as part of a pilot security deployment agreed upon by both sides. According to the Lebanese military spokesperson, during their deployment in Zawtar al-Arabiyya, IDF forces fired shots near Lebanese units. The Lebanese Army warned that this incident could hinder the ongoing implementation of the pilot agreement between Israel and Lebanon.

Earlier on the same day, the Lebanese Army announced the start of its troop deployment in the Zawtar area within the Nabatieh region. This deployment is part of the agreed pilot zones established through trilateral talks involving Israel, the United States, and Lebanon. The pilot aims to manage security arrangements in southern Lebanon, but the recent incident raises concerns about its progress and stability.
