Suspect Arrested for Burglary and Theft from Holocaust Survivors in Kiryat Gat Senior Housing

A woman was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of breaking into three apartments in a senior housing complex in Kiryat Gat and stealing personal belongings, including mobile phones and cash. Some of the victims are Holocaust survivors. The investigation began over the weekend following reports of the burglaries. Police investigators quickly identified and apprehended the suspect. She was taken for questioning at the Kiryat Gat police station and subsequently detained. The court extended her detention to continue the investigation, which is still ongoing.

Kiryat Gat police station commander Superintendent Shay Elali described the incident as serious, emphasizing that elderly residents, including Holocaust survivors, were victimized in a place meant to provide them safety and security. He praised the swift and determined police work that led to the suspect's arrest and vowed to continue rigorous efforts against property crimes targeting vulnerable populations.
