Syrian Authorities Foil Large-Scale Arms Smuggling Toward Hezbollah Border Area

The Syrian Interior Ministry announced it thwarted a massive arms smuggling attempt likely intended for the Lebanon border region. Syrian customs officials intercepted the shipment at the Jdeidat Yabus crossing on the Beirut-Damascus highway. Authorities became suspicious of a vehicle heading toward Beirut and stopped it for inspection. Inside the vehicle and its compartments, they discovered over 200 RPG shoulder-fired anti-tank missiles hidden. The suspect was detained and is currently under investigation by internal security forces. This significant seizure highlights ongoing efforts to prevent arms trafficking in the region, particularly weapons potentially destined for Hezbollah.
