Syrian customs authorities at the Jdeidet Yabus border crossing announced they intercepted a smuggling attempt involving 226 grenades and additional ammunition concealed in a private vehicle heading to Lebanon. This marks the second time within a week that Syrian officials have prevented arms smuggling from Syria to Lebanon. The seized munitions are believed to have been destined for Hezbollah.
Customs officers became suspicious of the vehicle and conducted a thorough search with the assistance of a K9 unit, uncovering the hidden weapons. The driver was arrested on the spot, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him. Following the seizure, the weapons were handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
