Police Finish Probe Into Minister May Golan, Prosecutors Lean Toward Indictment

The police announced today, Wednesday, that the National Fraud Investigations Unit, Lahav 433, has completed its investigation into the case of Minister for Social Equality and Advancement of Women May Golan, as well as into public officials close to her and other involved parties. After all investigative steps were completed, Lahav 433 chief Maj. Gen. Meni Benjamin and head of investigations Maj. Gen. Boaz Blat approved transferring the case to the prosecution for review and decision.

Prosecution sources told Channel 13 News that they believe Golan should be indicted, and added that “the method resembles the Faina Kirshenbaum affair.” The case against Minister Golan and the other involved parties began as a covert investigation that lasted several months, and with the approval of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, Lahav 433 moved in September 2025 to an open investigation on suspicion of a series of offenses, including bribery, fraud and breach of trust, obtaining something by fraud under aggravated circumstances, forgery with intent to obtain something, obstruction of justice, and obstructing a police officer in the performance of duty.

As part of the investigation, which was conducted with the accompaniment of the Tel Aviv District Prosecutor’s Office, Taxation and Economics, dozens of suspects and witnesses were questioned. As recalled, in September last year police raided the Ministry for Social Equality and the office of a lawyer. He was arrested and taken in for questioning on suspicion of bribery under aggravated circumstances and money laundering. At the same time, police also raided the home of a woman close to the minister, where they found a drug lab.

Minister May Golan said, “On the eve of elections, and the people who persecute the right are going on a mad sprint to frame me too. This is political persecution on steroids, and make no mistake, all the baseless and false allegations will fall apart on their own, because I did not commit any offense! From the moment it became known that I was exposing failures and crimes that the junta is so afraid of and moving the most rotten cheese, a decision was made to persecute me by every possible means.

“I would have gladly shown up for questioning if the investigating and persecuting body were not biased and did not act like agents of the Sicilian mafia when they fell for fabricated, gossipy and false ‘investigations’, and did not hesitate to act criminally and abuse my close associates, including starving them, humiliating them and brazenly trampling their most basic rights! Everything is ‘kosher’ on the way to the obsessive framing of cases against the right. This will no longer work for you. The public no longer buys the lies and blood libels.”
