Police say probe into May Golan has ended, case handed to prosecutors
The police announced today, Wednesday, that the National Fraud Investigations Unit in Lahav 433 has completed its investigation into Minister for Social Equality and Women’s Advancement MK May Golan, and that the case has been transferred to the prosecution for review and decision. Golan and several associates were questioned on suspicion of a range of offenses, including bribery, fraud and breach of trust, obtaining something by fraud under aggravated circumstances, forgery with intent to obtain something, obstructing justice and impeding a police officer in the performance of duty.
In its statement, the police said that, "After a covert investigation lasting several months and with the approval of the Attorney General, the unit launched an open investigation in September 2025 on suspicion of the commission of a series of offenses. As part of the investigation, dozens of suspects and witnesses were questioned." Although she was summoned, Minister Golan did not appear for questioning.
In November, the police decided to indict Golan’s chief of staff following the drug lab discovered at her home. The chief of staff’s version, according to which she was surprised that her husband was operating a drug lab in their home, did not convince investigators. Her husband, who has only recently confessed and been convicted, said, "This is my affair."
In September, Kan News reported that the police found drugs in a car owned by the Prime Minister’s Office, which was used by Golan’s chief of staff and served her in the course of her duties. Last week, the police prosecution reached a plea deal with the husband of Golan’s chief of staff, who admitted to possessing a drug lab and to manufacturing, growing and holding drugs. A large lab was found in the couple’s home, and drug residue was also found in the minister’s government vehicle.
