Maya Golan investigation on suspected bribery, fraud and breach of trust concludes, findings sent to prosecutors

The National Fraud Investigations Unit (Yahav) in Lahav 433 announced today, Wednesday, that it has completed the investigation into Social Equality and Women’s Advancement Minister Maya Golan, as well as into public employees close to her and other involved parties, on suspicion of offenses involving integrity and public trust. During the investigation, an evidentiary basis was established for the alleged offenses by Golan and her associates.

After several months of covert investigation, and with the approval of the Attorney General, the unit moved in September 2025 to an open investigation on suspicion of a series of offenses, including bribery, fraud and breach of trust, obtaining something by fraud under aggravated circumstances, forgery with intent to obtain something, obstruction of justice, and interfering with a police officer in the performance of duty. Dozens of suspects and witnesses were questioned as part of the investigation. After all investigative steps were completed, the case file was approved for review and decision by the State Attorney’s Office.

It should be noted that Maya Golan refused to appear for questioning and even removed her mother from the police station when she was summoned to testify. Her interrogation ended shortly afterward, during which she remained silent and refused to answer questions. According to a source familiar with the details, the minister arrived and took her mother before the interrogation ended, when she went to the bathroom. They left the station together. In the three days that followed, investigators searched for the mother, who was not at her apartment and did not answer phone calls.
