IDF Establishes New 'Rimon' Battalion at Bahad 1 to Expand Officer Training Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Israel Defense Forces inaugurated a new battalion named "Rimon" at Bahad 1 on Sunday to train combat officers across infantry, engineering, and armored corps. This move aims to address wartime demands and expand the IDF's force structure amid ongoing fighting in various sectors and the formation of new units. The decision follows a prolonged period of planning and adjustments to increase the quantity and quality of officer training while maintaining close mentorship for cadets.

The "Rimon" battalion, staffed by experienced combat commanders, will comprise four companies and also serve as an additional operational framework for Bahad 1's activities. Alongside "Rimon," two other battalions were established: "Dolev" for reserve combat officer training and "Alon" for future officer training. Infrastructure upgrades at Bahad 1 have been completed to accommodate the expanded force.

Major General Sharon Altit, commander of Division 38 and head of the Ground Forces Operations Brigade, emphasized the battalion's critical role, stating, "Under this roof, at Bahad 1, the outcomes of the fighting will be determined. The quality of the platoon commander defines the quality of the platoon and thus the success in war. Everything begins here." He described the moment as "historic, moving, and significant," urging the battalion commanders to prepare excellent officers for the nation.

Colonel A., commander of the Officer Training School, highlighted that opening the "Rimon" battalion represents a major step to increase the number of trained commanders in the ground forces. He noted that enhanced mentorship will help cadets develop into better leaders within the IDF.
