AEK Athens Pursues Hapoel Be'er Sheva Star Kings Kangwa Ahead of Champions League

A day before Hapoel Be'er Sheva begins its European campaign in the Champions League group stage, Greek club AEK Athens is intensifying efforts to sign Zambian star Kings Kangwa. AEK Athens has already submitted an offer to bring Kangwa to the Agia Sophia Stadium, reflecting strong interest in the player who was named last season's Israeli Premier League Player of the Year.

Dimitris Vergos, a journalist covering AEK for the Greek sports newspaper Gazetta, praised Kangwa's performance during last year's Conference League qualifying round against AEK, saying, "He stood out significantly above all other players on the pitch. He's the kind of player you immediately recognize as very talented." Vergos noted that the Greek league is considered stronger than the Israeli league, which adds pressure on both the player and clubs to finalize the deal. He suggested that if the financial gap is indeed small, as reported in Israel, the transfer is likely to be completed soon.

AEK may raise their offer today, potentially securing Kangwa before Hapoel Be'er Sheva's match tomorrow. If no agreement is reached, Kangwa is expected to play in Be'er Sheva's upcoming two matches, which remains the club's current assumption. The proposed contract for Kangwa reportedly offers a salary of 750,000 euros per year, excluding bonuses, for two years with an option for a third season.
