AEK Athens Advances in Negotiations to Sign Hapoel Be'er Sheva Star Kings Kangwa
Kings Kangwa, who led Hapoel Be'er Sheva to the Israeli Premier League title last season, is in advanced talks with Greek champions AEK Athens for a transfer. Although Kangwa is still playing for Be'er Sheva, the deal appears close to completion. The current offer from AEK exceeds 2.5 million euros, the highest bid Be'er Sheva has received for the player, but it has not yet met the club owner Alona Barkat's expectations. It is estimated that if the offer surpasses 3 million euros, the transfer will be finalized.
In addition to the transfer fee, AEK Athens is offering Kangwa a significantly higher salary of 700,000 euros per season, more than double his current 300,000 euros annual salary at Be'er Sheva. The 27-year-old midfielder joined Be'er Sheva in summer 2024 for under one million euros and has been a key player in the Israeli league, scoring 14 goals and providing 8 assists in his first season, followed by 12 goals and 9 assists in 33 league appearances last season, helping secure the championship.
The negotiations reflect AEK's strong interest in acquiring Kangwa, who has established himself as a top performer in Israel. The coming days will likely determine whether the deal is completed, with Be'er Sheva awaiting an improved offer that meets their valuation.
