Rahat Sees 60% Drop in Gunfire Incidents Amid Increased Police Presence

Rahat's Mayor Talal Al-Krenawi announced a significant 60% decrease in gunfire incidents in the city over the past two months. He attributed this decline to residents' growing awareness of the harm caused by gunfire, the efforts of reconciliation committees resolving conflicts, and a strengthened police presence. Al-Krenawi highlighted that police patrols operate around the clock, particularly with reinforcements from the southern district, which deters potential offenders. He noted that shootings at weddings have nearly ceased due to increased police mobility and visibility.

Looking ahead, the municipality is negotiating the purchase of two drones, each costing approximately 800,000 shekels, with plans to acquire more in the future. The mayor emphasized that police use of drones already serves as a deterrent to criminals. Additionally, recent police operations in Rahat have uncovered numerous weapons and ammunition. Al-Krenawi concluded by affirming that law enforcement will act decisively against anyone endangering lives.
