Rahat Launches Advanced Security System to Combat Rising Crime

The city of Rahat is set to implement a new security system featuring surveillance cameras at key locations and a dedicated drone, all connected directly to the police control room. This initiative aims to detect shootings and violent incidents in real time, enabling faster response times and enhancing personal safety.

The monitoring equipment will be installed primarily on elevated points and specialized masts to prevent damage or sabotage. Alongside fixed cameras, the drone will quickly reach any area in the city to expand observation and support security forces' response capabilities.

The control room, which currently centralizes police activity, will coordinate immediate deployment of police, Magen David Adom emergency services, firefighters, and municipal maintenance teams to address incidents and infrastructure issues.

This project is a collaborative effort involving the Bloomberg Foundation, the Community Security Authority, and the Western Negev Cluster. It represents a strategic milestone among several planned initiatives aimed at reducing crime and strengthening security in Rahat and the broader Western Negev region.

To avoid conflicts of interest, the monitoring and operation of the technological control center will be conducted outside municipal jurisdiction by the Western Negev Cluster and authorized bodies, ensuring professional neutrality and impartial operation.
