Rahat Businesses Closed Amid Family Feud and Gun Violence Concerns

Police in Rahat, in cooperation with the Southern District State Attorney's Office, have temporarily shut down two garages for 10 days due to ongoing family disputes and fears of public endangerment. The closures were ordered by Rahat Police Station Commander Superintendent Yitzhak Yona over the weekend, following concerns that the businesses' continued operation posed a significant risk of harm to the public, particularly in light of shooting incidents related to criminal conflicts between families in the city.

This action follows a report from Sunday morning detailing a 25-year-old man being shot in his Rahat home overnight. According to the report, masked individuals arrived at his house by car and fired at him. Police suspect the incident is linked to criminal disputes within the city and are investigating.

In a separate incident last week, police discovered an M-16 rifle hidden in a sandbox at a kindergarten in Rahat, along with dozens of ammunition rounds and a magazine. Authorities also seized trucks and forklifts valued at approximately three million shekels from a logistics compound in the Rahat area. Police suspect the compound was used for concealing goods and operating outside its permitted use, as part of an ongoing investigation into a Rahat resident. During the inspection, officers also apprehended a suspected illegal resident attempting to flee the scene from a forklift.
