Cinema Usher in Rehovot Severely Beaten After Confronting Teens Over Smoking and Noise

A young usher in his early 20s working at the Hot Cinema in Rehovot was violently attacked by a group of about six teenagers on Saturday night. The assault occurred after the usher asked the youths to stop smoking electronic cigarettes and making noise during a movie screening. Witnesses reported that the teenagers cursed at the usher and then physically assaulted him, leaving his face covered in blood and his body bruised. The victim was hospitalized with a broken nose and severe injuries.

The incident began when other moviegoers complained to the usher about the disruptive group smoking inside the theater. After the usher requested the group to leave, they attacked him. A witness criticized the cinema's security arrangements, noting that security personnel shared duties with the mall and took several minutes to arrive, raising concerns about potential dangers if weapons had been involved.

The usher's mother described the difficult aftermath, saying he is physically recovering but mentally traumatized and afraid to leave the house, fearing retaliation from the attackers who fled immediately after the assault. The cinema's operations manager handed over security footage to the police, who responded quickly and launched an investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible.

Hot Cinema condemned the violence and emphasized zero tolerance for such behavior, urging the public and parents to promote respectful conduct to ensure a safe and enjoyable cinema experience. A formal complaint has been filed with the police, and the company hopes for full accountability for the perpetrators.
