IDF Central Command Chief Condemns Illegal Settler Violence as Un-Jewish and Unlawful

Major General Avi Blot, commander of the IDF Central Command, strongly criticized a violent faction of the Hilltop Youth during a closed meeting with the Farm Association. In recordings obtained by Kan News, Blot emphasized that all IDF actions, including preventing the establishment of illegal outposts in Areas A and B, strictly follow government policy and law. He warned that once the law is broken or security is endangered, it becomes his direct responsibility.

Blot described the perpetrators as youths who disrespect Israeli law and authority, contributing to escalating nationalist violence in the West Bank. This comes amid rising tensions, with some farms operating legally in Area C under IDF coordination, while illegal outposts have recently appeared deeper in Areas A and B, sometimes supported by Knesset members opposing the Oslo Accords.

Addressing public protests against his use of administrative restraining orders, Blot clarified these orders are issued only after Shin Bet intelligence confirms involvement in violence against Palestinians. He noted suspects often exercise their right to silence, limiting criminal prosecution options and forcing reliance on administrative measures. Blot also referenced Defense Minister Israel Katz's policy change ending administrative detentions of Jewish citizens, which security sources say has led to a sharp increase in Jewish nationalist terror incidents.

Comparing the fight against Palestinian terrorism, where the IDF has extensive tools, to the more limited options against Jewish nationalist violence, Blot acknowledged the operational challenges. He condemned the illegal actions as "not lawful, not moral, and not Jewish," highlighting their damage to Israel's legitimacy and the heavy operational toll on soldiers distracted by these incidents.

Concluding, Blot issued a stern warning to farm owners involved in violence, stating that farms must operate on state land in Area C, coordinate with the IDF, and support security efforts. Farms failing these conditions will not be recognized as legitimate or contribute to security, and the IDF will act firmly against lawbreakers.
