US Army Finds Remains in Search for Missing Soldier After Iranian Attack in Jordan

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday evening that unidentified remains were discovered during the search for a missing American soldier following an Iranian attack in Jordan on July 17. The remains were found at the attack site, and identification procedures are ongoing. The attack resulted in the deaths of two US soldiers, with a third soldier declared missing. The military has withheld further details, including the identities of the deceased and missing, pending notification of their families.

Additionally, CENTCOM reported that on July 18, a US soldier was killed in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a one-sided Iranian missile strike. Another soldier was lightly injured and is receiving medical treatment.

Earlier on Sunday, US President Donald Trump addressed the deaths of the two soldiers in Jordan, stating they "paid with their lives to prevent nuclear proliferation." He emphasized that the soldiers died because they opposed Iran acquiring nuclear weapons and criticized Iran's actions. Meanwhile, the US military launched a new wave of strikes in southern Iran overnight. Trump chose not to issue a social media statement but spoke briefly with the New York Post.

Separately, Kuwait's military announced that its air defense systems are currently intercepting hostile missile and drone attacks, indicating heightened regional tensions following the recent strikes.
