Yossi Dagan Vows Rapid Recovery and Expansion of West Bank's Homesh Settlement After Fire Damage

Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, conducted a situation assessment at the Homesh settlement (Havat Gilad) on Sunday morning following overnight firefighting efforts that contained multiple fire outbreaks. The meeting included local leadership, security forces, firefighting teams, and representatives from the IDF, Home Front Command, Central Command, and the Judea and Samaria Division. Dagan reported that about 20 families lost their homes entirely, with many others suffering significant damage. Critical infrastructure, including electricity and water systems, was severely damaged.

Dagan emphasized that all involved parties are focused on swiftly returning residents to their homes and rehabilitating the settlement. He stated that some families will be allowed to return in the coming days as safety and infrastructure repairs progress. Currently, displaced families are being temporarily housed in Har Bracha, with full support including food and essential services. Efforts are underway to restore electricity and water, and to provide administrative services such as ID and passport renewals.

Despite the extensive damage, Dagan expressed confidence in the community's resilience and the settlement's future growth. He highlighted the strong support from the Israeli public, including significant donations and government coordination for property assessments and reconstruction planning. Dagan concluded by affirming the commitment to rebuild Homesh larger and stronger, overcoming past challenges and terrorism incidents, and strengthening the community's pioneering spirit.
