Over 22,000 Donate 5.6 Million Shekels for Gilad Farm Fire Recovery in West Bank

A large fire broke out at Gilad Farm in the West Bank on Saturday, destroying numerous homes and businesses. The fire began near Mitzpe Yishai in Kedumim and spread to Gilad Farm due to strong winds. Firefighters deployed 45 teams nationwide, supported by a firefighting helicopter and eight planes conducting aerial water drops. Two people sustained moderate and minor injuries and were treated in hospital. Police blocked Highway 55 westbound from Git Junction to facilitate evacuation.

The fire caused extensive damage, completely destroying 15 family homes and 10 businesses, including a wood warehouse, while damaging another 10 buildings partially. Authorities stated there is no evidence linking the fire to arson; it was reportedly caused by a cigarette discarded near a main road.

Within less than 24 hours, a crowdfunding campaign launched to aid the affected families raised 5,642,615 shekels from 22,231 donors, including residents from nearby communities. The campaign, managed by the Bnei Horin association, aims to provide rapid reconstruction and support for families left homeless and businesses that collapsed due to the fire.
