Spanish Club Murcia Sues Former Maccabi Tel Aviv Player David DeJulius Over Contract Dispute

Spanish basketball team Murcia announced on July 26 that it is taking legal action against former Maccabi Tel Aviv player David DeJulius. The club claims DeJulius breached a contract extension agreement reached in March 2026. According to Murcia, DeJulius agreed to extend his contract on March 6 but a few months later declared he would not honor the deal, contradicting the signed agreement between both parties.

Murcia stated that due to the damage caused to the club and its prospects for the upcoming season, it has chosen to pursue legal proceedings and plans to escalate the matter to FIBA if necessary. DeJulius had an impressive breakout season in the Spanish league, averaging 17.7 points per game, which attracted interest from Turkish club Besiktas and several EuroLeague teams.

The dispute highlights the challenges Murcia faces in securing its roster for the new season amid competing offers for DeJulius. The club’s official statement underscores its commitment to enforcing the contract and protecting its sporting and financial interests.
