Three Detained on Lufthansa Flight at Ben Gurion Airport After Assaulting Police

Three young men from the Gush Dan area were arrested on a Lufthansa flight at Ben Gurion Airport shortly before takeoff to Frankfurt on July 26. According to police, the suspects caused a disturbance on the plane, refused to obey the flight crew's instructions, and posed a danger to passengers and staff. The airline refused to depart while the individuals remained on board.

Police officers from the Ben Gurion district were called to the aircraft after the crew reported the unruly behavior. When officers asked the three to disembark, they refused and were subsequently detained. During the arrest, the suspects attacked the officers, who had to use reasonable force to complete the detention. Four police officers and two police volunteers were lightly injured, with some officers reportedly bitten by the suspects.

One of the detainees reportedly told a female officer, "I hope October 7 happens to you," referencing the date of a significant attack in Israel. The suspects, all in their twenties, were taken for questioning at the Ben Gurion police district. The police announced that they will request an extension of the suspects' detention at court the following day as the investigation continues.
