Five-Year-Old Girl Fatally Injured by Vehicle in Central Jerusalem

A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Jerusalem when a five-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle on Rabbi Shmuel Salant Street in the city center. Emergency medical teams from Magen David Adom (MDA) arrived promptly at 14:19 following a report of a pedestrian hit by a car. Paramedics Shimon Zelts and Nachman Shay Ravivo described the girl as unconscious, without pulse or breathing, and suffering severe injuries. They immediately began resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions, ventilation, and medication, and rushed her to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in critical condition.

Despite continued resuscitation attempts at the hospital, the girl was pronounced dead at Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital. Hospital officials confirmed that the child arrived in critical condition and that the medical team was unable to save her. This incident adds to a recent series of deadly road accidents across Israel. Just days earlier, two 25-year-old men died in a motorcycle collision near the Golani interchange on Route 65. Earlier this week, a pregnant woman in her mid-30s was killed in a car accident in Ashdod; doctors performed an emergency cesarean section, successfully delivering a premature baby who remains in critical condition in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Israeli police continue to enforce traffic laws to reduce road fatalities, but accident rates remain high. Authorities urge the public to drive carefully and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further tragedies.
