Neftchi Baku Resumes Negotiations with Maccabi Netanya Over Freddy Vargas Transfer

Neftchi Baku has returned to negotiations with Maccabi Netanya regarding the transfer of Venezuelan player Freddy Vargas after initially refusing to pay his 900,000 euro release clause. Vargas, who is under contract with Netanya, has refused to return to Israel due to the current security situation. Netanya remains firm, stating they have no intention of releasing him without adequate compensation. Vargas considered asking UEFA to release him from his contract due to the circumstances but abandoned the idea after tensions eased, realizing such a request would likely fail.

Meanwhile, Netanya confirmed their interest in signing winger Christian Novac1, previously acquired by Sheffield for 1.2 million euros, as first reported by Sport Channel. Negotiations are also ongoing with player Dolev Haziza. The club plans to hold another friendly match and aims to strengthen the squad with at least four additional players before the new season begins.
