Israeli Toddler Drowns at Hotel Pool in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt

A tragic incident occurred in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, where a two-year-old Israeli toddler drowned in a hotel swimming pool on the night of July 15, 2026. The child was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors confirmed her death shortly after arrival around 11:00 PM.

Following the incident, the international unit of ZAKA, an Israeli emergency response organization, was immediately activated to coordinate with relevant authorities in both Israel and Egypt. Their goal is to expedite the necessary procedures to transfer the toddler's body back to Israel for burial as quickly as possible.

ZAKA's international team is also providing support to the grieving family members who remain in Egypt during this difficult time. Haim Wingarten, ZAKA's Deputy Operations Director, emphasized that the unit operates around the clock worldwide in such cases and is maintaining continuous communication with all involved parties to assist the family and ensure the child's dignity is respected throughout the process.
