Daniel Peretz Signs Four-Year Deal with Southampton

Southampton Football Club announced today, Friday, that it has signed Israel national team goalkeeper Daniel Peretz to a four-year contract. Peretz, who will celebrate his 26th birthday next month, was loaned in January from Bayern Munich to Southampton, which plays in England’s second division, the Championship. He has now decided to leave the German club after putting in a strong second half of the season at the English side.

Southampton activated the purchase option in its agreement with Bayern and bought Peretz for a fee of between £6.5 million and £7 million. The goalkeeper is also expected to earn about 8 million euros a season. Southampton came close to reaching the Premier League, England’s top division and one considered the best and most expensive in the world, but a spying scandal involving the team’s coaching staff prevented the club from taking part in the decisive promotion match.

Before moving to England, Peretz spent the previous two and a half years at Bayern and Hamburg, but barely received any playing time.
