The American center, who was a candidate to join Maccabi Tel Aviv and had even finalized his terms with the club, has reportedly received an upgraded offer from Fenerbahce worth $1.4 million per season, a move that could upend the situation for the Yellow and Blue. Marcus Bingham, who had been a leading candidate to join Maccabi Tel Aviv ahead of next season, may end up in Turkey instead. According to reports in Europe, the American center received an offer from Fenerbahce and is on his way to the Istanbul powerhouse in a deal estimated at about $1.4 million per season.
According to the reports, Bingham had already agreed on terms with Maccabi Tel Aviv on a two-year contract, but Fenerbahce's entry into the race may change the picture. The Turkish offer is significantly higher than the one he was offered in Israel, and could lead to the deal with the Yellow and Blue falling through.
At Maccabi Tel Aviv, Bingham was identified as one of the leading candidates to strengthen the frontcourt, in part because of the uncertainty surrounding the future of Marcio Santos. Now, the team will have to wait for developments or consider alternatives in the player market.
Bingham, 25, arrives after a particularly successful season with Russian club Unics Kazan. The 2.13-meter center posted averages of 15.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.8 blocks per game in the VTB League, and was also named the league's player of the month for October.
The American is well known to Israeli fans after playing for Hapoel Haifa, Hapoel Holon and Hapoel Tel Aviv. During the 2024/25 season, he moved to the Reds for a significant transfer fee, was part of the EuroCup title run, and later moved on to Unics Kazan, where he made the leap that turned him into one of the most sought-after names on the European market.
