Shaare Zedek Tops Israel in Five Elective Surgery Categories with Shortest Wait Times
According to the 2024 Ministry of Health report on elective surgery wait times, Shaare Zedek Medical Center leads Israel in five types of surgeries. The report evaluated 28 public general hospitals nationwide and found Shaare Zedek had the shortest median wait times in Jerusalem, outperforming the national median in most procedures.
Shaare Zedek ranked first in general surgery and urology for hernia repairs (1,488 surgeries), gallbladder removals (901), and prostatectomies (544). It also led in ENT surgeries with 803 tympanoplasty operations and topped ophthalmology with 3,229 cataract surgeries, surpassing the second-ranked hospital's 2,444. Additionally, the center placed second nationally for hysterectomies and tonsillectomies and was among the top three hospitals for colon resections and bariatric surgeries.
