Likud MK Tali Gottlieb Demands IDF Chief Zamir's Immediate Dismissal Over Political Intervention

Likud Member of Knesset Tali Gottlieb has called for the dismissal of IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir following his request to remove a clause from the law freezing the detention of draft dodgers. This clause currently grants the IDF the authority to determine who qualifies as a yeshiva student and thus is exempt from enforcement actions. Gottlieb sharply criticized Zamir on the social media platform X, stating, "Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, I suggest you know your place!! Know your place!!" She emphasized that although she lacks the authority to fire him, his letter from the previous day was disgraceful and warranted his removal. Gottlieb accused Zamir of descending into the political arena and weakening the morale of soldiers and Israeli citizens, likening his behavior to that of opposition Knesset members. She concluded by saying she would dismiss him without hesitation and that it should happen as soon as possible.
