Elderly Woman Drowns at Mikhmoret Beach Despite Rescue Efforts

An 80-year-old woman drowned on Monday at Mikhmoret Beach despite prolonged resuscitation attempts by Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics and medics. Senior MDA medic Binyamin Magoz reported that the woman was found unconscious without pulse or breathing, and despite advanced CPR efforts including chest compressions and ventilation, her death was confirmed at the scene.

This incident follows a series of drowning cases in recent days. On the previous Saturday, a man in his 50s died after drowning at Metzuda Beach in Ashdod, while a one-year-old infant was severely injured after being pulled from a private pool in Herzliya. Both incidents occurred within an hour of each other.

Paramedics Idan Shina, Said Matar, and Mohammad Matar described the infant’s rescue, noting he was unconscious when found and was transported to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba in serious condition. Earlier, rescuers at Metzuda Beach performed CPR on the man, but paramedics Oral Assoulin and Samach Hassid confirmed his death after extended resuscitation efforts.

These events highlight ongoing concerns about water safety in Israel, with multiple drowning incidents reported in a short timeframe. MDA recently introduced a new advanced intensive care ambulance equipped with seven beds and ten seats to improve emergency response capabilities.
